Wildlands Conservancy Visit

Today we had our first visit from Wildlands Conservancy! They have obtained a wonderful grant from United Way in which a naturalist will visit our classroom 15 times this year. Each time she will read us a story about animals, show us an animal or two, and do an activity with us in our brand new naturalist journals. We will also take two field trips, one in the Fall and the other in the Spring, to Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus.
Today Miss Britt read us a story about snakes. Then she told us many interesting facts about snakes. Did you know a snake smells with his tongue? After the story it was time to meet and touch a real, live black rat snake.

After meeting the snake we learned snakes shed their skin when they grow. We also learned about turtle shells.

After touching the turtle shell we then got to touch a real box turtle.

The last thing we did was to complete the sentence, " A snake slithers through the grass. " in our journals. We can't wait to see what our naturalist brings on her next visit.
